COACHING WIN LIST: We have been remiss in keeping up with coaches who have reached milestone plateaus this fall. Earlier this fall we noted Bedford’s Bob McCoy going over the 200 win mark, but we missed Pella’s Jay McKinstrey notching his 100th win the first week of the season, and Mount Pleasant’s Bob Jensen in Week 4 picked up his 150th, just LeMars’ Jim Boyd did last week.. Last night Lewis Central’s new mentor Jim Duggan notched his century win when the Titans defeated Red Oak.

SEPT 12 GAME TO BE COMPLETED: Monday, the Highland, Riverside at Cardinal, Eldon, which was called at halftime due to lightning and thunderstorm on Sept. 12 will be resumed with Cardinal leading 10-7. The teams are in Class 1A, District 6

PLAYOFF QUALIFIERS: The IHSAA will release the 2010 Playoff Field on the Internet, the evening of Friday, October 22 and early Saturday, October 23.The pairings for 32-team field in each of six classes will first appear on our website as soon as qualifiers are confirmed and pairings are approved by the Board of Control. Nothing official will be done in advance. It is imperative that the host schools call us with the final score of their game so we proceed. The score list on our website is the ONLY source for the official play-off standings. That is why it is critical that scores are correct. In past weeks we have had a few scores that were in overtime not reported as such and OTs impact the tie-breaker criteria. To correct a score on our list, please E-mail blegg@iahsaa.org with the right information.

CHANGE OF STATUS: Next week, the Football Stat Book will be reposted with the following changes relative to playoff coaches, qualifying schools, and the playoff win loss of schools. The change addresses previously known sub-state qualifiers in 2008 and 2009 and their coaches. For record purposes those school, coaches, and games will be treated as playoff qualifiers. Obviously looking at those 16 games in each class for two years may take some time but we will let you know when the process is complete. Reminder is given that the playoff rounds are now called Round 1, Round 2, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Championship.
