Here are some thoughts on the upcoming season, based on the final 2011 computer rankings and the 2012 district memberships.

District rankings:

(All): average strength of all teams in the district

Parity:
0 = perfect randomness: all district games are coin-flips
1 = perfect prediction: all district games will be blowouts

(top4): average of the top 4 teams in the district, a measure of how well the district will fare in the playoffs.

Bettendorf, 2011 finalist, leads the preseason rankings in the MAC.

MVC: #4 Marion Linn-Mar (10-1), #7 Iowa City High (8-3), #8 Cedar Falls (11-2), #9 Iowa City West (9-3)

A quartet of top 10 teams will battle for the 2012 MVC crown. MVC leads all groups in parity: a lot of competitive games will be played this fall.
