2A #6 Beckman wins at #9 West Delaware 30-26. West Delaware had been a 10-point favorite.
#15 Washington loses at #26 Pella 10-16. Washington had been a 12-point favorite.
#1 Decorah continues to impress with a 35-0 win at #28 Marion. Decorah travels to #53 Independence in week 3 as big 50+ point favorites.
#2 Sioux City Heelan continues to school its 4A neighbors, beating Sioux City North 43-15. Sioux City West is next on the schedule.
#3 CB Lewis Central starts 2-0 with an impressive 48-0 win over perennial Class 1A champion St Albert. Lewis Central travels to 4A #28 (3-0) Indianola in week 3 as 28-point favorites. Although the Lewis Central – Indianola game looms large, the expect spread dampens expectations. Indianola has wins over #45 Hoover and #46 Roosevelt. Their other game was a 10-point win over 3A #37 Oskaloosa — not exciting.
Game of the week:
#14 Creston-Orient-Macksburg journeys to #11 Atlantic for a showdown of district 1 undefeateds. District 1 is now sporting a 12-2 record, best in all of 3A by about a 5.5 point margin.
