Notes
#1 WDM Dowling won the battle of West Des Moines over #4 WDM Valley, 27-7. Dowling hosts #2 Ankeny in week 3 to complete what will undoubtedly be the hardest starting schedule of all 4A teams: at #5 Johnston, host #8 Southeast Polk, at #4 WDM Valley, and host #2 Ankeny. It is possible Dowling will not see another competitive game until round 1 of the playoffs. Valley goes on the road in week 3 to face #8 Southeast Polk as a 8-point favorite in another top 10 game.
#3 Iowa City West leads the MVC with a 2-0 start, beating #17 CR Washington 62-37 in week 2. West faces a winless Kennedy team in week 3 as 38-point favorites.
In the early stages of 2012, the MAC appears to be competive. #7 Pleasant Valley and #9 Bettendorf are both 2-0 and separated by about 3.5 points. Both teams are big 50+ favorites in week 3.
