Big Wins/Escapes
Computer brought its prediction A game in predicting #13 Assumption as a 1.50-point home favorite over #14 Bettendorf. Assumption won the Thursday-night game-of-the-week 7-6.
Upsets
#19 North Scott was a pregame 15-point underdog to #11 Muscatine. The Lancers won 47-42 in a shoot-out.
Rankings Notes
Computer had some good insight on the matchup of previously undefeated #3 CR Xavier and #16 Cedar Falls. Computer expected a 21-point victory for Xavier; final game margin was 17.
Some discomfort with the computer’s relatively low week 7 ranking of Dubuque Senior undoubtedly has ended, as Senior was upset by #28 Waterloo East. Computer makes a small adjustment, dropping Senior from #22 to #24.
Ankeny, Pleasant Valley, and CR Xavier lead the Class 4A rankings. Iowa City West is still undefeated and a team to watch at #6.
