5. 5A Rankings
Pleasant Valley is back to #1, 0.25 points over Dowling. Pleasant Valley plays at City High in two week as a 9-point road favorite. This seems to be the remaining competitive game of the current schedule.
#2 Dowling won last week by 52 at Council Bluffs Lincoln. The next four weeks see Dowling playing teams rated #10 to #18. The predictions look “comfortable” for Dowling.
#3 Ankeny is at home this week, hosting Valley as a 19-point favorite. A week 8 home game with Northwest is also of interest, with Ankeny being a 22-point favorite.
#4 Southeast Polk is probably the most interesting top team at this time. Southeast Polk travels to LInn-Mar as a 0.50-point underdog. The next two games are also of interest, both at home, CR Prairie and Centennial.
#5 CR Kennedy plays at #12 Cedar Falls as a 15-point favorite. In week 8 Kennedy plays at #14 Johnston as a 17-point favorite.
#6 Linn-Mar and #7 City High are of interest. Both are within about 10-points of #1 Pleasant Valley and #2 Dowling. Additionally the difference between #3 Ankeny and #7 City High is currently believed to be only 3 points.

The big game is clearly Southeast Polk @ Linn-Mar, with the home team favored by 0.50 points.

Xavier, Waverly-Shell Rock, North Scott, and Liberty lead. #5 Lewis Central remains undefeated, along with #17 Newton and #21 Fort Madison.
