2. Current and future development
2.1 Class/Division rankings
I have introduced a framework to add class and conference rankings to the historical rankings reports. Conferences began to appear in the 1920’s. I don’t fully understand the history of classes, but clearly the 1972 season used classes for the purpose of football playoffs.
Vision:
(1972-present) rankings will be available by class
(1893-1971) do IaHSAA classifications exist in this time period?
(1921-present) rankings will be available by conference
(1992-present) rankings will be available by district
I believe conference rankings for 1992-present will be unique and interesting. I look forward to this. I think many will find these to be very compelling and satisfying.
2.2 multiple conferences
Inital work was done to accommodate a team competing in multiple conferences. Examples: Essex (19xx-19xx) and Lake City (19xx-19xx). This is not complete.
2.3 Scoring
I have an interest in the history of the value of the various scoring events: touchdown, field goal, safety, try, etc. I hope to provide a fact sheet.
2.4 Rivalry rankings
(carry-over from 2022 Year end report)
I’d like to develop reports measuring the quality of a rivalry. Clearly the most important factor is the total number of games played. The next factor is clearly a measure of the overall closeness of the total wins for the two teams. Thus, the best rivalry is when two teams play a lot of games, and the two teams have an equal amount of wins in the rivalry.
3. I’m interested in retiring the iah.bcmoorerankings.com subsite and using ia.bcmoorerankings.com for all Iowa High School information. I don’t have a timeline.
